Gina CannonI have been involved in horticulture and garden design for many years, it is both a challenging career and a delight and I absolutely love what I do.

I am a career changer, having previously worked for a large food retailer as a buying manager in several categories including fresh fruit. This involved travelling and meeting farmers in many countries and learning about growing crops. I then went to Capel Manor to study a Diploma in Garden Design, and RHS horticulture exams before practical training at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. I have also worked as a volunteer gardener at Lambeth Palace Gardens for 5 years, which practices chemical free gardening.

Prior to that I was lucky enough to grow up in Trinidad and Tobago, WI. This has meant that I had a ‘free range’ outdoor childhood and I reach back to these experiences when designing gardens. I’m very interested in light and shade, how to manipulate it, how to make the most of it, and how to enhance my client’s lives by making their garden as attractive and inviting as possible. I want to encourage my clients to experience the indoor/outdoor lifestyle and spend time in the garden and interact with it.

My design philosophy will always reflect the needs of the client, and the environment. However, I am still influenced by the lush landscapes of my childhood and reflect this in my own garden.
